Annually, over one third of the residents in Henry County are assisted by the service programs we help fund.  Some program services are based on income, while others are available to anyone who needs the service.  United Fund believes in creating a healthy community for EVERYONE, therefore the programs we fund address a wide range of services and issues.  Currently, seventeen local programs receive our support to address critical community needs.

Area of Service

United Fund supports four areas of human service.  They are as follows: Meeting basic human needs (food, clothing, shelter, & energy assistance); Keeping citizens safe (victim services, advocacy, & disaster relief); Nurture children & youth (after school programs, child care, recreation, & youth development); and Prevent illness & promote wellness (health supportive services & prescription assistance).

Results, Goals, Outcomes, Impact

When you invest in United Fund, you’re joining forces with others to make changes that create and sustain impact in Henry County.  In 2007, we  introduced a new way of performance measurement for our funded programs utilizing outcomes.  Outcomes tell us “what happened” as a result of using resources and engaging in activities to improve the lives of people or to change the conditions in which they live.  We ask our agency partners to establish program goals that provide evidence of the degree to which an outcome has been achieved…people’s lives have been changed.  Outcomes tell more of the story…you can readily understand the significance or impact that your financial donation creates.

'Participating in the Grant Allocation for United Fund was a great learning opportunity.  As a service provider in our area, it is helpful to understand and know the process; the time and the effort that is given in making difficult decisions as to how the funds raised by United Fund are distributed each year.  I am pleased to have been a part of the collaborative efforts of an annual event that is a valued service and resource to our community.'

Lola Alley, Disabilities Resources Navigator, Region 6, WorkOne

'As a first year participant in the allocation process, I found it very educational.  The diverse number of recipients, the real needs of each and the number of individuals who benefit from the United Fund allocations, should be a reminder of the number and types of organizations and people in need in this community.  The most disappointing factor is the need for more funds thatn the United Fund has available.  If everyone who works would contribute to the United Fund there could be funds to meet current local needs and to begin to plan or vision how we can make this entire community a truly productive, healthy place for all families and individuals.'
